A bit of DIY is definitely a good thing to do in the first days of spring, so here's a very simple, no-skills but useful tool to put outdoors now, at the beginning of March, to help pollinators of all kinds to reproduce. Inexpensively, using left-over materials that seem useless, you can do something for the environment while relaxing. (Photo source: unsplash.com)
On the website of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, you can read more about what a bee hotel is, and HERE you can find out exactly how to make one and what its significance is.
You don't have to worry about the bee hotel - which is also home to the gentle and useful solitary wasps! It's important to stress that species of wasps that are known for their painful stings live in families, so they cannot move into these narrow tunnels!
You can also use a few test tubes to observe what goes on in bee hives. You can find help on how to make them HERE. If you have tried any of them, please share them with us!
